INDUSTRY LEADER IN DIGESTIBILITY OF MORE THAN 97%*^
*Total Dry Matter Digestibility.
^THE ULTIMATE RAW NUTRITION™
As a small family-owned pet food manufacturer, we take pride in offering the highest quality raw cat food in the industry, ensuring that our products have the highest possible digestibility.
We have invested our limited resources and time to conduct rigorous testing and ensure our product is of the highest quality.
Our use of ultra-high quality ingredients, processing technique, perfect lab analysis results, and exceptionally high digestibility profile are just a few of the qualities that make us the industry leader.
Our raw cat food has an average protein digestibility greater than 98%, caloric digestibility greater than 97%, and total digestibility greater than 97%. What does this all mean?
This guarantees that your cat will receive the maximum amount of essential nutrients from our food, leading to optimal digestion and overall health.
What is digestibility?
Digestibility is an extremely important marker of nutritional value and an indicator of the quality of food that you choose to feed your cat. It tells us the nutrient bioavailability that is available for intestinal absorption and utilization in a given amount of food.
A highly digestible food will provide more bioavailable nutrients for absorption and utilization in a smaller amount of food, whereas you would need a greater amount of food with low digestibility to equal that of a highly digestible food.
The ingredients you choose for your cat are crucial and will be indicative of the extent of digestibility of your final cat food product. More importantly, the ingredients you choose for your hyper carnivore will dictate the extent of digestibility.
Foods that are higher in high-quality animal-based protein and fat will have a higher digestibility than foods high in plant raw materials. The bioavailability of the nutrients will be greater and your cat will be more nutritionally satisfied/saturated meaning it will eat less and defecate less.
How is digestibility calculated?
We have a set amount of food being fed to each cat. We then collect each cat’s poop over 10 days. It was then analytically tested by an accredited laboratory to measure the nutrient and caloric quantity that went in versus the nutrient and calories that come out. The results were exactly what we expected. When an extremely high-quality raw product goes in not much comes out the other end.
Why choose Fegnion?
At Fegnion, we have designed our feline prey appropriate raw cat food with your true hyper-carnivore in mind that is high in animal-based proteins and fat, and zero carbs to place the least amount of stress on your cat’s GI tract system and facilitate the most nutrient absorption and utilization.
When feeding a nutrient-dense and highly digestible feline-appropriate raw cat food product like Fegnion your cat will be nutritionally saturated and will consume less food, which will result in smaller, harder, virtually odorless, and less frequent poops. Your cat will have a healthier weight, a better temperament, and will be a healthier and happier cat.
With our exceptionally high digestibility product, you can be confident that you are providing your cat with the best possible nutrition for their health and well-being.
It is a win-win situation for your cat and of course, you.
Why is digestibility important?
Despite what other raw cat food companies will tell you, foods higher in fiber and carbs (not appropriate for an obligate carnivore like your cat) have lower to no digestibility.
Your source of raw materials such as animal or plant, quality, and quantity of macronutrients (protein, fat), amount of fiber and crude ash, and processing technique applied during the production such as heat, fermentation, HPP, and storage are all factors that will affect your cat’s food final product digestibility and nutrient absorption.
Feline-inappropriate ingredients such as grains, vegetables, and fruits are not appropriate for your true hyper-carnivore and will not be absorbed and utilized properly as feline-appropriate ingredients such as animal-based protein and fat.
For example, cats fed poor quality, high carbohydrate diets usually found in kibble and canned food would consume a lot more food to satisfy their animal protein requirements than if fed a species-appropriate, nutrient-dense, feline-appropriate product like Fegnion.
Poor-quality foods will have lower digestibility, fewer nutrients will be available for absorption resulting in nutrients not being absorbed and utilized and putting stress on your cats’ digestive system. Your cat will have frequent bowel movements that can be bulky, loose, stinky, sticky, diarrhea, high in mucus, and with flatulence.
This will all eventually lead to nutritional deficiency and health problems.
