Your cat needs bones to survive. It is an essential part of his ancestral feline diet needed for his existence. Feeding your cat raw ground bones is safe as long as they are fed raw.
Whole raw ground bones are an excellent source of minerals and nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus, collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin.
Including raw bones, marrow and cartilage is the best and only way you should feed your strict carnivore a Feline Prey Appropriate diet.

We, as health care professionals, have brought to this creation an essential health care provider thought process, based on evidence-based decisions. We have extensively researched and evaluated clinical data and the physiology and biochemistry, in relation to domestic and wild cats.
We always keep in mind, while creating the best Feline Appropriate raw food for your feline that your cat, like the big cats, is a strict carnivore. It is your cat’s anatomic, physiologic, metabolic, and behavioral adaptations that truly makes him an obligate predator, craving a strictly carnivorous diet essential for his survival. Through an evidence-based approach, every effort is taken to simulate a cat’s natural Ancestral Prey Model, by creating a meal that consists of a perfect balance of macronutrients-protein and fat-the same found in the prey your cat would hunt in the wild.

Not true Ancestral Prey diet:
Even though a majority of cats find fish irresistible, it is still not part of their natural ancestral prey diet. Everything about your cats says they are terrestrial predators that didn’t evolve eating fish.
Rancidity:
Fish and fish oils are mainly used in pet food as a source of cheap protein and Omega-3 fatty acids.
Unfortunately, we all know that its primary goal is as a palatant or palatability enhancer (flavor enhancer), enticing your cat to consume food or treats which consist of poor quality ingredients, a food he would not naturally eat, or by masking unfavorable flavors and aromas, or both.
Fish oils are quite perishable, unstable, and highly susceptible to oxidation usually from exposure to oxygen, light, heat, and natural degradation over time. This oxidation creates unhealthy free radicals that can cause more harm than good. Sourcing a unoxidized quality product is unrealistic. All fish oils will oxidize to a certain degree. Rancid fish products are not only useless but ultimately very dangerous for your pet to consume.
Environmental Contaminants:
The majority of fish products contain environmental contaminants such as toxic chemicals and metals.
Allergy:
It is important to note that fish is considered one of the top three food allergens in cats.
There are an increasing number of cats developing adverse allergic reactions, such as intolerance to fish and fish allergy.
Ecosystem Destruction:
Overfishing has a devastating impact on the ecosystem. This chain reaction not only affects the balance of life in the oceans but also the livelihood of people who depend on fish for their daily living. To destroy the food chain is to destroy life. Therefore, we are not contributing in any way to the destruction of our ecosystem.
SINGLE SOURCE MEAT PRODUCTS
Your cat is a strict carnivore and his existence depends on a diet solely based on animal tissues. In the wild, he would be hunting and killing a variety of small prey such as mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, just as his ancestors did for thousands of years.
That’s why we at team Fegnion have created high protein diets from different animal sources, which are free of any grains, fruits or vegetables and are closest to what your little predator craves and was born to eat in the wild.
We believe feeding a variety of Feline Appropriate Raw nutrition with rotation between single species animal proteins is the key to a healthy and happy cat.
GRAIN, FRUIT, AND VEGETABLE FREE
Due to the lack of and inefficiency of particular enzymes, cats are unable to fully process or digest ingredients such as grain, fruits or vegetables.
For example, in the wild, feral cats, as well as the big cats, would avoid eating the stomach of their prey, first eating the head then their organs. Ingestion of carbohydrates would be the accidental ingestion of surrounding grass or stomach contents while eating their prey.
Adding seeds, berries, and vegetables in an attempt to replicate the contents of a prey’s stomach is unacceptable. In the wild, these are found in trace amounts. We do not add indigestible ingredients as fillers to cut costs and by no means to make it appealing to pet parents.
HPP AND BACTERIOPHAGE FREE
HPP (High-Pressure Pasteurization) and Bacteriophages are methods that are mostly used in pet food industry to “kill” pathogens. Both processes decrease the levels of pathogens and do not fully eliminate them.
At Fegnion, we focus on maintaining our products in their original form-RAW. We source high-quality raw materials from reputable suppliers and adhere to strict aseptic techniques to ensure the safety of our raw cat food. As pharmacists, we take safety seriously and have developed methods that do not involve High Pressure Processing (HPP) or Bacteriophages.
Our safety measures have been extensively researched and tested for effectiveness. We wash our raw materials with a proprietary organic acid blend we created and compound ourselves, which is both antibacterial and antiviral. We are confident in the safety of our products and our methods.
We avoid HPP and Bacteriophages for several reasons:
HPP destroys pathogenic bacteria along with beneficial bacteria. It also denatures the protein and depletes the enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids.
Fats in food are quite perishable, unstable, and highly susceptible to oxidation, usually from exposure to oxygen, light, heat, and natural degradation over time. When specific processing treatments are utilized, such as HPP, fats can become rancid due to lipid oxidation making them possibly toxic to your cat. In addition, this oxidation creates unhealthy free radicals that can cause more harm than good.
The potential migration of chemical compounds into the food from plastic packaging may cause endocrine disruption in your cat that may lead to the development of health disorders such as diabetes, thyroid and reproductive disorders, heart and kidney disease, and certain types of cancer.
HPP subjected raw foods are no longer truly raw.

Bacteriophages are genetically modified viruses that target specific pathogenic bacteria by infecting them and killing them.
Bacteriophages could induce inflammation to the gut by disrupting the gut barrier that can lead to immune alteration. They may slip out of the gut and get into the bloodstream by making their way to other parts of the body, with unknown consequences.
The long term impact of ingesting food treated with bacteriophages are unknown with as yet undiscovered consequences.
